Rebuild the Hardware You Own

Cayenne Turbo assemblies are expensive to replace and often arrive with different wear levels from side to side. A documented rebuild can preserve the original housings and application-specific configuration when the cores remain serviceable.

Every quote begins with both turbo tags, the vehicle year and engine, symptom history, modification list and clear photographs. Final scope follows teardown because heat damage, wheel contact, housing wear and prior repair work cannot be priced accurately from a model name alone.

Cayenne pair rebuild pricing

Porsche Cayenne TD04 Pair Rebuilds Starting at $1,695

A clear public starting point for eligible customer-supplied pairs, with final scope based on the condition of both units.

Starting price

From $1,695 per pair

Porsche Cayenne TD04 pair rebuilds start at $1,695 for eligible, rebuildable customer-supplied cores. Final pricing is established after teardown and inspection. Damaged wheels, shafts, actuators, housings, machining, missing parts, prior non-standard repairs, shipping and taxes are additional when required. No additional work is performed without approval.

A $295 pair inspection and teardown fee applies if the repair is declined. The fee is credited in full toward an approved rebuild.

Application reference

Cayenne Turbo and Turbo S Families

Porsche used multiple left/right TD04HL variants across the first-generation Cayenne Turbo range. The following references are starting points rather than an interchange chart.

Cayenne Turbo 4.5

Early V8 twin-turbo units

Selected 4.5-liter Turbo applications use compact MHI TD04-family assemblies with side-specific housings and plumbing.

Confirm the complete MHI number and Porsche OE number from each tag before shipping.
Cayenne Turbo 4.8

Later 957 applications

Later 4.8-liter cars introduce additional turbo-number, housing and wheel variations. Both units should be documented together.

Common reference family: MHI 49389-003xx / 49389-004xx.
Cayenne Turbo S

TD04HL-20T reference

Selected Turbo S units appear in the TD04HL-20TK3S-11 family. Output level alone does not confirm internal specification.

Example reference: 49389-00350. Exact tag verification required.
Measured teardown

What We Inspect

The two turbochargers are tracked individually while being evaluated as a system. That makes it possible to explain why the final scope may differ from one side to the other.

  • Shaft and turbine wheel condition
  • Compressor wheel damage and housing contact
  • Journal bearings, thrust system and sealing components
  • Center housing oil passages and heat evidence
  • Turbine and compressor housing integrity
  • Wastegate and actuator configuration observations
  • Prior machining, mixed parts or non-standard repairs
Parts-backed service

Supported by Established Rebuild Components

Major repair components are available for confirmed TD04HL Cayenne applications. That makes this a strong candidate for inspection-led rebuild service without pretending every damaged core can be restored with the same kit.

Replacement wheels, shafts, actuators, housings, machining, missing components and damage from oil starvation or foreign objects are quoted separately when required. No added work is performed without approval.

Before reinstalling

Find the Cause, Not Just the Damage

A rebuilt turbocharger should not be installed until the system fault is understood. Oil supply and drain restrictions, crankcase pressure, intake debris, charge-air leaks, exhaust restrictions and control faults can all contribute to repeat failure.

Include any diagnostic findings from the vehicle so the turbo condition can be reviewed in context.

Cayenne turbo rebuild FAQ

Information Before the Box Ships

Should I send both Cayenne turbos?

Yes. Pair inspection provides the clearest picture of wear, contamination and side-to-side hardware differences.

Can you identify the turbo from the VIN?

A VIN is helpful, but readable photographs of both physical turbo tags are still required before application and parts support are confirmed.

Do you rebuild Cayenne Turbo S units?

Selected TD04HL Turbo S applications are supported subject to exact tag verification and inspection of the housings and rotating components.

Can you provide a firm price before teardown?

We can discuss an expected range from the tags and photos. The approved final scope follows teardown because hard-part damage and prior repairs materially change the job.

Do you accept shipped-in work?

Yes. TurboRebuilds serves owners and repair shops nationwide. Contact us for packing and shipping instructions before sending the pair.
